Previous Post

My previous post, rooms with a view, is photos I took of different classrooms in which I have subbed this semester. Since I don't have my own room I have provided you with some photos of classrooms I admire. These classrooms generally have student work on display, posters on the wall, and just create a wonderful atmosphere. I hope my room looks as good as these classrooms do! :)

So far so good...

I was asked by the science teacher where I substitute if I would be a long term sub for her next spring after she has her baby. I am excited about the prospect of having the same classroom for an extended length of time! I really hope it works out it is quite a few months away but I am still happy about the opportunity! Hope everyone had a great holiday and got some rest! This semester is almost over!!

Almost Thanksgiving!

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving! I know I am looking forward to the break as much as the kids. However, my one issue is the Monday and Tuesday before the Thanksgiving breaks begin. In my experience it seems as if the kids (and some of the teachers) have already started the break and are now just going through the motions because we have to all be at school. This is hard to overcome, and I know next year I will probably be the same way, I just hope not! Any ideas on how to make the day or two before a break as productive as the days after a break?? Thanks for reading :) Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving holiday!

39 Clues...what a good read!

I recently read 39 Clues. This is such an excellent read. I love the adventure the two kids take on after their the matriarch of the Cahill family dies. Dan and Amy burn two million dollars to take on the challenge Grace Cahill leaves in her will. The two travel with the assistance of their nanny, as the kids are only 14 and 11! Amy and Dan are in search of clues to ultimately lead them to discover the source of the family power. What is really neat is all the famous people the Cahills supposedly descended from! This is a fun adventure story and I can't wait to read the next installment :)

Continuation is a good thing...

I have been in the family and consumer science classroom for the past week and have really enjoyed the classes. I was able to get in a groove and students were doing the assignments and paying attention--it was great! I hope once I have my own classroom I have enough management skills students are on task and respectful even when I am not there. It was a great week! :)

Simply Amazing...

It really is amazing how different kids are after a couple days extra off. The students really seemed maybe a little more focused and at least more willing to do the work assigned. Which, let me say, is great, especially for a substitute. I am gearing up to be one teacher for 5 days and am excited about that. The longer I have students it really seems the better they act for me. Can't believe it is already November though. Christmas break is just around the corner and the students (and teachers) are really counting down the days!
